How accurate are these statistics & how is this data obtained?

Asked by [ Admin ]

I was looking at your ‘what graduates do’ statistics and I just wondered about the column entitled ‘employed in non graduate job’ by non graduate job do you mean a job they are over qualified for? Or is that just a job which is not specifically designed for graduates?

Also how accurate are these statistics, how is this data obtained?

The data at:

http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/single.htm?ipg=6439

which I believe is the Table you are referring to, is based on the official statistics of HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency, a Government organisation)

On this page it tells you that:

The Table is ranked by the sum of three ‘Positive’ Destinations:

 *  Employed in Graduate Job
 * Employed in Graduate Job and Studying
 *  Studying and Not Employed

Source: HESA 2007-08

This is the most up-to-date, authoritative data currently available. We will be updating the Table in late Spring, as usual.

A non-graduate job is indeed a job a graduate would be over-qualified for eg shop assistant
