My son has decided to take History, English Language, Politics and Government, and Philosophy at A-level. Which courses would be open to him when that decision has to be made ?

He could apply to take a degree in any of those subjects individually or jointly (eg, PPE). He could take degrees in business, law and probably most of the social sciences and humanities subjects. I think it is fair to say that he will have much flexibility. However, he could start preparing by looking at the entry requirements for individual courses and starting to home in on his preferences – he will have to choose where to study as well as what to study. Does he want to study an academic subject or take a degree leading to a vocational qualification. All university websites detail entry requirements and course content. He could also look at www.unistats.com and www.ucas.com.
