Cambridge is ranked number 4 in the Top 10 for subjects table, despite having leading stats in each column. Why is this? many thanks, Alex

I think you are asking about the Table at http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/single.htm?ipg=8734
This shows “who’s in the Top Ten for their Subjects”. The Table places Cambridge fourth behind Oxford, LSE and Imperial because it does not have a 100% record of appearances in the top ten for those Subject Tables it appears in.. You are right to say that Cambridge has more first places in the Subject Tables. But this Table ranks by percentage of Subject Table appearances in the Top Ten. So, whereas Cambridge appears in 46 of our Subject Tables and 45 of these appearances are in the top ten, for Oxford, LSE and Imperial they are in the Top Ten of every Subject Table they appear in. This may not be a significant metric for you. It may be more impressive to you that Cambridge appears in 46 Subject Tables and comes top in 28 of them. You choose.
